Deloitte Inspiration Award

Background

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding written and oral communication skills of Achievers from Company ProgramTITAN, or GLOBE.

Deloitte has been a generous supporter of JA Canada for many years. Along with cash awards, Deloitte has contributed tremendously to the growth of JA in Canada as its people have dedicated their time by taking on various roles within the Board of Directors and as volunteers in the classroom delivering a variety of JA programs including Company ProgramDollars with SenseEconomics for Success, and TITAN.

Past recipients of Deloitte Inspiration Awards had the opportunity to attend a luncheon with numerous Deloitte partners and enjoyed a tour of downtown Toronto, including highlights such as the CN Tower. These recipients were able to showcase their oratory skills at the Canadian Business Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony.

Value

  • Four cash awards in the amount of $2,500 per recipient.

  • An all expenses paid trip to the Canadian Business Hall of Fame annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony on May 18, 2017.

  • Recognition and the opportunity to speak at the Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony.

Eligibility

  • Any Achiever who is enrolled in Company ProgramTITAN, or GLOBE.

  • Cannot be a previous recipient of this award.

  • The application form must be signed by the applicant and his/her parent or legal guardian if the applicant is under 18 when the application is submitted.

  • The applicant must adhere to the rules and regulations of the award including the completion of all documents requested In the application package requirements.

Topic

“Canadian youth are tomorrow’s workforce. What skills and attitudes do you think students need to develop to be successful in the workplace? How is JA helping you to build these skills?”

Application Requirements

  • A 500 word personal statement on award topic. Please upload your document to Google Drive. Link will be required in online application. If need help with loading your document, please click here.

  • Please submit a 2-4 minute video on the award topic. Video is to be uploaded to YouTube, with JA Canada in the title and description.  Link will be required in online application form. If you need help with uploaded your video, please click here.

  • Two recommendation letters; 1 from your local JA office, 1 from a teacher, parent/guardian or a community leader (JA volunteer or employer) who is familiar with the applicant. Link to these documents will be required in online application.

  • A résumé highlighting the applicant's student activities, volunteer experience outside of school, extracurricular activities/hobbies and any leadership positions held In these activities. Complete LinkedIn profile will be accepted if appropriate.

  • Completion of online application.

Criteria

  • Recipients must participate in the Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony as well as all activities leading up to the event on May 18, 2017 as a guest of Deloitte. Recipients are chaperoned by a JA Canada official during his/her stay in Toronto.

  • Recipients must sign a release form and agree to have his/her name published in association with JA Canada and the award.

  • Recipients must provide a current photograph as well as biography outlining their JA experience, educational history and future.

Application Process

  1. The applicant submits the completed application online by March 10, 2017.

  2. Application packages will be reviewed by a panel.

  3. Recipients will be notified in the Spring of 2017.
